Hello everyone. I’m Roberta, one of the new product managers here at Overleaf, and I want to tell you how we recently organized a REMOTE hackathon! You might be thinking of broken up conversations over a dodgy connection, people not hearing properly what is going on in the ‘conference room’ etc. etc. - we’ve all been there. But thankfully none of that happened. In fact, our remote hackathon was such a blast that we are planning on making it a regular thing.

Through a series of happy coincidences, Overleaf was able to support the recent 1st Annual Trent Mathematical Science Research Symposium.
Our sponsorship allowed us to offer an award, and 'most entertaining talk' seemed like a worthy prize! We're thus delighted to share the news that the winner of the Overleaf Award for Most Entertaining Talk was Skye Griffith.

Donald Knuth’s 80th birthday on January 10, 2018 was celebrated by two events in Piteå, Sweden: the scientific symposium "Knuth80: Algorithms, Combinatorics, and Information" in honour of Don’s career-long efforts, followed by the world premiere of Fantasia Apocalyptica, a multimedia work for pipe organ and video written by Don himself.

When I boarded my flight from RIC to MCO, I had no doubt I was on the right plane. There were a few families headed for the Orlando amusement parks, but nearly everyone on the plane was female, a little on the nerdy side (myself included), and clearly headed for a party. The Grace Hopper Celebration (GHC) is part conference and part job fair, but as the world’s largest gathering of women technologists, the total experience is much more.
